一 |     (ECNS) -- Researchers at The University of Hong Kong (HKU) have developed a minimalist analogue content-addressable memory (CAM) chip that performs complex searches directly where data are stored, the university said Tuesday.    When tasked with calculating the analogue Hamming distance for machine learning classification, the new analogue CAM performed the task approximately 108 (100 million) times faster than a standard CPU, scoring exceptionally high accuracy across multiple datasets, according to the university.    The chip is designed to reduce the slow and energy-intensive transfer of data between memory and processors, known as the “von Neumann bottleneck.” Its architecture can compare incoming search data with all stored data simultaneously in a single step.    Led by professor Li Can from the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering of the Faculty of Engineering and the Centre for Advanced Semiconductors and Integrated Circuits (CASIC), the team built each analogue CAM cell with just two transistors, compared with up to 16 in a conventional digital CAM cell. The design reduces chip area and allows continuous analogue signals to be processed directly.    Li said the team is exploring how the technology could support search mechanisms in large AI models. 二 |     신규공무원 가이드북 제작, 청년 결혼, 천원주택 등 다양한 시책 발굴                   ▲경북 김천시(시장 배낙호)가 '2026년 김사공시 우수 연구단(최우수1, 우수1, 장려2, 노력3)을 선발하고 있다ⓒ김천시경북 김천시(시장 배낙호)는 '2026년 김사공시 우수 연구단(최우수1, 우수1, 장려2, 노력3)을 선발했다고 26일 밝혔다. 김사공시 연구단(김천을 사랑하는 공무원 시책 연구단)은 공직자들이 부서와 관계없이 팀을 구성해 창의적, 실효성 신규 시책 발굴 및 연구하는 단체로, 총 24개의 연구단이 구성돼 있다. 지난 2월부터 8월까지 약 7개월간 아이디어 발굴, 현장 방문, 벤치마킹 등 시정에 접목할 수 있는 신규 시책을 발굴 및 검토를 통해 24개 연구단 중 16개 연구단이 최종 심사에 올랐다. 최종 심사는 김천시 정책연구용역 심의위원회 진행, 각 분야 전문가들의 심도 있는 논의를 통해 7개 우수연구단이 선정했다. 이 중 ‘김천기록공방’ 연구팀이 공무원들의 업무 및 생활 측면에서 적응을 도울 수 있는 신규 시책 ‘신규공무원 적응력 향상’을 제안해 '최우수연구단'으로 선정됐다. 우수 연구단은 ‘웨딩브릿지’ 연구팀의 ‘청년결혼장려시책’으로, 혼인한 청년에게 매칭금을 지원해 주는 ‘청실홍실통장’이 선정됐다. 배낙호 김천시장은 “공직자들이 부서의 경계를 넘어 직접 현장에 나서 새로운 시책을 고민했다는 점에서 의미가 크다”며, “앞으로도 직원들이 협업을 통해 현장의 목소리에 귀 기울이고, 시민들이 체감할 수 있는 창의적인 시책을 적극 발굴해 나가길 기대한다”고 말했다. 한편 김천시는 적극적인 업무를 격려하고 동기부여를 위해 선발된 우수연구팀에 해외연수, 포상금 등의 보상을 제공할 예정이다.。
